Back to Basics

Most of you would agree that it's always fun and exciting to dress up or follow the latest fashion trends, but there are just times when I find myself going back to the basics. There's nothing special about this look. It's just a plain tank top, cropped denim shorts, embellished flip-flops, and minimal accessories plus messy hair and no make-up at all, giving off that effortless look. I love how laid back this is. I wore this outfit two days ago when I accompanied my mum to run some errands. What do you think?

And just when I thought there's nothing special about this look, I realized that my tank top is in 2013's color of the year: emerald! I've heard that emerald is gonna be a big hit this year. Now who says you can't be in while wearing the most basic pieces your closet could ever hold?

Emerald tank top: Denim Co.; Cropped shorts: Mudd; Embellished flip-flops: Reaction Kenneth Cole; Gold watch: Casio

Dressed to Kill: SS Magazine

It was a good morning, indeed! You loves wanna know why? It's 'cause I woke up to a tweet from Allison Beal, founder of Style Saint, saying that today's SS Magazine was inspired by one of my StyleBooks. Oh, I'm so honored, thanks so much, Saint Allison! :"> If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check this out.

Today's magazine, entitled Dressed to Kill, is all about the season's hottest holiday dresses. Need help in deciding what to wear on New Year's Eve? Read Dressed to Kill for some tips and ideas!

Let me also share to you the StyleBook I created, which was Allison's inspiration in that feature.

Oxblood Obsession

Since I don't have outfit shots to post just yet, let me blog about the current fashion trends. The other day, I mentioned about one trend that's in this season (If you haven't read about it yet, click here.) and now, let me share to you another one: oxblood hues. It's the season's "It" color! Try entering stores and you'll see the color on clothes, shoes, bags, you name it! I myself would wear something in that color. Maybe a pair of jeans! There's just something about it that screams luxe. Don't you think?

Style Saint

A couple of weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Ami Gan of Style Saint saying that she came across my blog and would love it if I join Style Saint. Style Saint is a fashion community where fashion lovers around the globe can be editor-in-chief of their own StyleBooks.

When I finally found time, I checked out the site and found it interesting. Basically, it's a site where you can create your own digital fashion magazines that you could share to other Style Saints or via blogs, Tumblr, or Facebook. There are thousands of images hand-selected by the editorial team that you could tear and use for your own magazine or simply get inspiration from. To know more about Style Saint, click here.

Let me share to you my first StyleBook! To view my other StyleBooks, click here.

Also, I can proudly say that I am already part of the Style Saint Editorial Team. I applied after creating my first StyleBook and after they reviewed my first magazine, my application was approved. Now I can add tear sheets and tear photos from sites other than Style Saint!

Now I'm pretty sure that you noticed my new layout and the new pages in my blog. Originally, this blog was meant for my personal style and the looks that I have styled, but eventually, I posted about fashion events I attended and now, I'm adding FASHION TRENDS + INSPIRATIONS. I will now be posting about the latest fashion trends, using my StyleBooks, of course, hoping that my awesome readers will get inspiration from them.

Let me know if you have other suggestions! :)

Trends

If you've been following me on Instagram and Twitter, you're much aware that I worked for Sir Noel Manapat, one of the country's top fashion stylists and Bench's fashion stylist, during the Bench Universe denim and underwear show. During that time, Sir Nio Manzano, one of the stylists, mentioned about a fashion show this coming October and asked me if I could create a mood board. I was hesitant at first because I'm not very good at creating mood boards. It was actually my least favourite part of styling class. But of course, I did not let the opportunity slip away; I said yes and took the challenge! How could I not, if it gets approved, my styling will be used for the fashion show. Imagine that!!

Moving on to the mood board, the first step I did was to research. Sir Nio already mentioned some trends that's in for the season but of course, I had to do further research. So what's actually in? Pre-holiday 2012 (or Fall 2012, in other countries) = military-themed, brocades, leathers, houndstoooth prints, herringbone fabrics.

Enter Zara, Mango, and Topshop and notice that camouflage print, combat boots, leather everything, and the color army green are the things that you'll find in there!

Anyway, I took photos over the web and had them approved by Sir Nio. I didn't have to but I guess I was too scared to use the wrong photos. Fortunately, most were given a yes! When my photos are ready, with the help of my brother (Yes, I do not know a thing about Photoshop prior to this. What a shame! HAHA.), I already made the mood board.

What do you guys think about it?! Not bad, right? I mean it's my first time, c'mon!!

All photos are from the web.

Special thanks to Mike Asuncion! ;-)
